Famous Last Words Week 7

First off, this week has been a bit of a blur.  First off the Oklahoma weather is probably something that everyone has been talking about. I think it is very safe to say that our weather here in Oklahoma is pretty bipolar. Hopefully this week all of the ice and snow will melt and we will start seeing some 60 degree or 70 degree weather. Hopefully that’s not just wishful thinking.

Well, lets see part of the reason my week has been so extremely stressful was because I had to take my little man Bratton to the vet early Monday morning. It had all started on Sunday night where he wasn’t walking very well and was a little disoriented and not eating very much of his dog food. Then, on Monday morning he had gone downhill fast. He was falling over and couldn’t even walk. He was rushed to the vet and got an Xray done and the vet had said that she thought he had a slipped disc.

Bratton can’t jump on the couch or on the bed or anything so he hadn’t done anything to hurt himself so we have no clue how he could have slipped his disc.  However, in these little dogs it happens a lot without knowing how it really happed. He was put on pain medicine, a steroid, and an anti inflammatory for the inflammation. Once the medication is gone if he hasn’t improved a lot he will have to more than likely go to a surgeon and have surgery on the disc.

So needless to say I have been super stressed this week with my little fur baby, work, and school. I am very blessed that my Mom can help out with him when I need her to.  Prayers are definitely appreciated ! J

Storytelling, Week 7: Rama Abandons Sita

Why would Rama abandon me while I am my most vulnerable?  I was bearing his twins and and he knew that they were his twins and he abandoned me. I love him so very much and can not see myself with anyone else.  The mere thought of being with anyone else makes my heart hurt because I am meant to be with Rama.

But, how could Rama abandon me like we had never loved each other at all.  He left me out in the Ganges to basically get eaten by wolves! How could he believe all of the nasty rumors that everyone was telling him about me living with Ravana?

Was it all just a big show? Did Rama just want his beautiful queen so that he could show everyone that he could get the girl all to leave her in the end and win in the battle?

I have so many questions and so many things to tell Rama but I need to ask him privately not I front of everyone in the palace.

 ~~~~~~
Rama is hearing all of these voices coming down the hall of the palace.
“Why would he still be with Sita. There is no way that she was faithful to Rama when she was away with the King for that long.” whispers a servant.
“She had to experienced temptation and more than likely she slipped up because there’s no way she could have stayed faithful being away from her husband that long.” said another servant.
Things were really getting to Rama. His mind was going a hundred miles an hour with the thoughts that Sita could have possibly been with another man.  Next, he saw another group of servants down the hall whispering and giggling as Rama passed. He couldn’t quite make out what there were saying but he knew that they had to be talking about Sita being away and living with someone else for so long.
Oh how Rama wanted to go to his Father Dasaratha for help, but he didn’t want his father to do anything rash and say something to Sita. He wanted his father to be proud of him in all aspects of his life, but how could he be proud that his wife was away with another man for so long.
Rama knew what had to be done. He had decided that he couldn’t be with her any longer.  He knew what had to happen he had to abandon her.
Bibliography: Buck, William (1976). Ramayana: King Rama's Way
Author's Note- I wanted to tell this story through Sita and Rama's perspective.  Sita is so hurt and betrayed because Rama abandoned her.  She thought he loved her and that he would be there for her through thick and thin but she still loves him and can't image life without him. As for Rama, he is hearing all of the people in his palace talking about Sita and it is really getting to him. Finally, he breaks and he decides that he is going to abandon her.
Week 7 Reading Diary B: Sita Disappears in the Earth
After the battle and the telling of Rama defeating Ravana.  Rama ended up ruling for quite a while and people were very happy with him.  Sits ends up becoming pregnant with Kusha and Lava.  However, Sita got a lot of backlash because they wondered how Rama could be pleased and happy with her still after she had lived with Ravana during her abduction.  Sita ends up getting taken to Ganga and getting abandoned there by Sumantra and Lakshmana.  In the end Sita proves her innocence to Rama by getting swallowed by the earth.
Week 7 Reading Diary A: Rama Defeats Ravana
I enjoyed reading this section of the final battle, which was between Rama and Ravana. The most exciting part was when Rama and Sita finally reunited! However, there was also a sad part to the story which when it told about Ravana dying and it explained how Mandodari and her grieving process.  She still loved Ravana despite everything bad that he had done throughout their life together.  It really shows how deep her love is for Ravana and how true that it really was.
I thought that the battle was described with great description and I really thought that it was kind of morbid that Rama cut off Ravana’s hand and multiple heads and they kept growing back.  However, in the end Rama shoots a final arrow and Ravana’s heart and Ravana ends up dying.
