Week One Overview
So far in this class I am really excited that I am going to be learning how to make stories more fun. I am definitely a boring story teller so I think this class is really going to help me learn how to dig deep into my creative side.
In my family we are Indian. We are Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Cherokee. However we don't speak any of the Indian language I would love to learn more about my heritage and learn the language my Indian family has spoken before me. I am excited to hear all of the different stories we learn from this class.
Week One Storybook Favorites
One storybook I really liked was Sweet Dreams are made of these: Karma Bedtime Stories.
I picked this story because I always liked hearing my Mom tell me all of her bedtime stories. It was really a special time that we spent together. I would also remember my brother would try to come up with outrageously scary stories because he knew that I loved scary movies. Needless to say, I would somehow always end up scared because of the bedtime stories he would tell me. Anyways I like how this storybook tells about how she tells different stories to her children. It is really humbling that it is a mother telling about the different stories that she tells her different children. It really remind me of how sweet childhood is.
The next storybook I really liked was Tales of Love. I liked how the story explained that falling in love happens many different ways. It was basically saying that there is no cookie cutter way of falling in love. I really enjoyed how in the story with Dayamanti she decided that her husband was going to work for her love. She wasn't just going to marry anyone no matter how wealthy they are. I am a sap for love stories so I really enjoyed reading these.
The final story book I enjoyed was Delilah's Radio Hour. I was really interested in this story because it is an interesting radio session about two couples who are fighting and the radio host is wanting to get both of them on the air to figure out what is really going on. It is really intriguing to figure out what happens at the end. It's really a breathe of fresh air that they end up working out their fight on a live radio station.

My Introduction!
Hi! My name is Kelsey Selig. I am a Senior here at OU and I am majoring in Human Relations. I graduated from Westmoore Highschool and went to Oklahoma State my first semester as a college student. I decided that I wanted to transfer to OU my freshman year and I am glad that I switched to the better school in Oklahoma!
I have one older brother who is in his fourth year of residency at OU. I wouldn't be where I am today without my family. They are my support system and who I turn to in times of need. Jesus Christ is also a huge part of my life. I am very thankful that my family brought me up teaching me about Jesus.
I also have two yorkie puppies who I adore Brooklyn and Bratton! I love them. They really are such a joy to be around. Anyone who has dogs or any kind of pet knows that their presence give a sense of joy and love. That is very true with Brooklyn and Bratton I don't know what I would do without them. They are my fur babies!
As of now work at a Chiropractors office as an office assistant but really do not know where I would like to work whenever I graduate. This semester is going to be a lot of work working full time, having to do forty hours of volunteer work, and being a full tim student but I am ready to get it over with and ready to get it all done to where I can step out into the real world. I am excited to graduate and ready to see where the next chapter of my life takes me!

Storytelling-Week 1 Jack and Jill
Jack and Jill went up the hill
to fetch pail of water;
Jack fell down and broke his crown,
And Jill came tumbling after.
There was a Prince named Jack and a Princess named Jill in the land of Elmer where there was a scarce supply of water. There was a scare supply of water because there hadn't been rain in the land of Elmer for 180 nights. Everything in the land of Elmer looked sickly. The plants lost their green lushious leaves and the grass turned auburn brown. The trees that once had fruit just had the dead limbs because the trees were so thirsty.
Not only was the plant life in the land of Elmer sickly. The flu was also going around Elmer. The land of Elmer caught a strand of flu that was very tough to handle. It was taking the young and the elderly very fast. Doctors in the land of Elmer were having a hard time keeping the flu shot on hand because there was also a shortage of flu shots as well. The shortage of water wasn't helping the ones that were sick either.

As for Jack and Jill they were very fond of each other. They both had a crush on each other. They had not contracted the flu so they got to be around eachother. Jack’s family had saved water for their family to where if anything happened they would have a supply of food and water if needed. Jill’s family on the other hand had not prepared for such a day.
On one dreary day Jack needed to go get water for his sick family so Jill followed him. They had to go up the big Elmer hill to get the water. Finally they got the water, and all of a sudden Jack screams “Ohhh Nooo the water!!” and tumbles down the big Elmer hill. Jill stops dead in her tracks for a moment and all of a you see Jill tumbling right after Prince Jack.
Authors Note: This story is based on the nursery rhyme “Jack and Jill.” The source for my story or nursery rhyme is, The Nursery Rhyme Book, edited by Andrew Lang and illustrated by L.Leslie Brooke (1987). When I retold the story I made it to where the water was one of the major points in the story since they went to the top of the hill to get the water for all of their family and friends who had the flu.
